Getting Ready for Moving Day

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been in our current place for over 4 years, and in Portland for nearly 7! While I still love certain things about our cute vintage apartment, I’ve also got the itch to move on.

We’ve toyed with the idea of moving, and even pursued buying for a bit last year, though thanks to Portland’s absolutely insane real estate market we’ve tabled that idea for the time being.

Our neighborhood — and Portland in general — has changed so much in the last few years, and while I still like our ‘hood, we’ve also considered moving to another area, city, out of state, and even thought about trying out the ex-pat life for a while.

While I’m not sure where we’ll end up, one thing I’m pretty sure about is the fact that I’ll hire movers this time around. The last two times that we moved we did so in the dead of the winter, and while the most recent move wasn’t the nightmare that our initial move to Oregon was (absolutely everything went wrong!) it wasn’t exactly fun.

Plus, the older I get, the less acceptable it seems to be to impose on one’s friends to haul your junk around in exchange for pizza and beer. So, while I don’t mind packing my own boxes, when we’re ready for our next move (especially if it’s another big out of state move!) I’m pretty sure I’ll spring for some movers.

So I was excited when Royal Moving Co. reached out about their recent launch in Portland. The Los Angeles-based moving company recently began operating in the Portland area and their prices seem pretty reasonable, especially for local moves.

I definitely appreciate their all-inclusive rates, flexible options for moving crews, truck sizes, supplies, and different rates for weekday and weekends. As someone who works from home and has a flexible schedule, I love that I can save a bit just by moving during the week!

For now though, I’m just over here pinning all the inspiration photos for our next space and fantasizing about the day we can finally get a pup (dog-friendly is my number one priority for wherever we end up!)

Over to You:

Have you used movers? What has your experience been?  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
